LifeLong Medical Care serves 50,000+ residents of Alameda and Contra Costa counties annually, regardless of ability to pay, immigration status or housing situation. We provide high-quality medical, dental, behavioral health, and social services for all ages. We take care of our patients in many settings: health centers, mobile vans, schools, encampments of the unhoused, and supportive housing.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic 3 years ago, LifeLong leveraged trust built over more than four decades serving the hardest hit communities. As of late January 2023, we've administered almost 60,000 vaccine doses since March 2020. While fighting the pandemic, LifeLong demonstrated great resilience, a hallmark of our 47 years of service and growth.
Even under the most difficult of circumstances, LifeLong continued to move forward in significant ways. While we wait to obtain final permits to break ground on the new Howard Daniel East Oakland Health Center, we are planning to open LifeLong’s Berkeley Trust Health Center later this year.
Modeled on our very successful Oakland Trust Health Center, Berkeley Trust will also primarily serve the unhoused. It will operate out of the Ann Chandler Public Health Center at the corner of University Ave. and 6th Street in Berkeley, at the end of the same block where our West Berkeley health Center is located, and just down the street from our administrative offices. Help us reach our goal of raising $175,000 to support these and other initiatives!
An important aspect of LifeLong’s approach is whole person care, which includes mental health services. Just as our medical services have grown and blossomed from our roots serving seniors, so have our mental health services. We have a wonderful program serving mothers-to-be, robust behavioral health services for patients dealing with substance abuse disorders and offer mental health support to the unhoused as part of our Street Medicine program. We integrate sensitive, trauma-informed mental health services into as many aspects of our care as possible.
We look forward to welcoming you on Saturday evening, April 22nd at the Claremont Club & Spa in Berkeley beginning at 5:30pm for cocktail reception followed by dinner at 7pm. This will be a wonderful evening to support our behavioral health services and celebrate our first graduating class of Family Medicine Residents.
