HIV Treatment and Prevention

Today, thanks to better treatments, people are living long healthy lives with HIV. LifeLong offers a range of inclusive and patient-centered services in sexual health, including HIV care, treatment, and prevention for all members of our community.

LifeLong’s HIV Care and Prevention team, alongside community partners like the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center, continues to provide services in a healing, trauma informed and culturally responsive environment. These services include PrEP, PEP, HIV testing & treatment, STI testing and treatment, gender-affirming care, and case management.

      • AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) Enrollment and Assistance

      • Housing Assistance/Housing Opportunities for Person with AIDS (HOPWA) enrollment

      •  Emergency Financial Assistance

      • Medical Transportation

      • HIV Dental Care

      •  Food/Nutrition Support

      • Medi-Cal/Benefits Enrollment

      • Ryan White Services

      • Disclosure Assistance and Partner Services

      • Support Groups

      • Connection to other Lifelong resources such as dental, acupuncture, behavioral health, and substance use disorder counselling

Prevention Services

    • Patient Navigation/Case Management

    • Sexual Health Education

    • Rapid HIV Testing (in-clinic and in-home test kits)

    • STI Testing (in-clinic and in-home test kits)

    • Condoms/Lube

    • PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis)- a daily pill or a bi-monthly injectable medication that, when taken daily, can help prevent HIV infection by 99%

        • PrEp is for those older than 12 without HIV who are at risk for getting HIV from sex or injection drug use.

        • Which PrEP medication is right for me?

        • Remember, PrEP does not protect against STIs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, or syphilis. Condoms and regular testing are recommended to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infection.

    • PEP (Post-exposure prophylaxis)- medication taken within 72 hours after an exposure to HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and/or gonorrhea.
