Last week, Dr. Kyu Rhee, CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), toured LifeLong’s Trust Health Center on a visit to the Bay Area. Dr. Rhee visited Trust to focus on one aspect of our work: our commitment to caring for those with complex needs.
The meeting was led by the Alameda Health Consortium, which includes eight health center networks in the area, including LifeLong Medical Care. Together, these centers make up a network that serves more than 285,000 people across 105 sites of care.
LifeLong’s Chief of Integrated Services, Brenda Goldstein, kicked off the tour and introduced Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Stacey, Trust Center Director Jandera Waterman and Associate Medical Director Dr. Jason Reinking, known affectionately as “Dr. Jay” by his patients.
The Trust Health Center plays a vital role in serving those without access to regular healthcare, especially our unhoused neighbors. Through our Street Medicine Program, LifeLong brings care directly to encampments and shelters, meeting people where they are. Dr. Jay’s daily work in these environments, treating everything from minor injuries to chronic conditions, embodies LifeLong’s mission.
These dedicated staff and clinicians represent the heart of our organization, not only addressing critical health issues but also building lasting relationships with patients.
LifeLong is deeply grateful to Dr. Rhee for witnessing our work firsthand. His support is invaluable as we strive to advance health equity and provide care for those who need it most.
