Our Team
Joan A. Flores MSN, ANP-C, WHNP-BC
Prior to joining the residency as Co-Director in August 2021, Joan was a Clinic Lead for the residency at Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center. She later developed the prenatal curriculum as Prenatal Faculty within the residency. Joan graduated from Yale School of Nursing in 2010 and is board certified as an Adult NP and Women’s Health NP. Outside of work, Joan takes care of her indoor and outdoor gardens, plans road trips to national parks with her daughter and friends, and occasionally creates mixed media art pieces.

Vanessa Mayen MSN, FNP-C
Prior to joining the residency as Co-Director in July 2021, Vanessa was the Associate Medical Director of LifeLong Medical Center West Berkeley, and a preceptor at that EBC-NPR site. Vanessa graduated from University of California San Francisco School of Nursing in 2016 and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys trail running and hiking, playing with her dog at the beach, reading fiction, and is learning how to watercolor.

Brittaney Barba Padilla BA
Prior to joining the residency in September 2019, Brittaney worked at California Institute of Integral Studies as the Senior Program Manager for the Community Mental Health and Masters in Counseling Psychology Department. Brittaney graduated from University of California Santa Cruz with a BA in Feminist Studies and Education. Outside of work, Brittaney is passionate about ancestral and indigenous medicine, community health and education, and social history and movements. She enjoys learning to surf with friends, family and in community with other LGBTQIA2S, femme, women and surfers of color.

Alexis Bradley FNP
Alexis Bradley is a FNP resident at Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center and recent graduate of University of California San Francisco with RN experience in Home Health, Post-Operative Care and skilled-care at different specialty facilities. Her previous role as a Community Health Worker providing case management for patients at LifeLong’s Over 60 Community Health Center seeking behavioral health support services, and her own passion for cultivating a behavioral health lens in primary care, inspired her to further her training and education as a nurse practitioner.

America Carrillo DNP, FNP-C
America Carrillo is a DNP, FNP-C resident at Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center and recent graduate from University of Illinois with recent RN experience in Family Medicine as a Community Health Nurse and clinical rotations in OBGYN, Pediatrics and Adult Medicine. She is motivated by her experiences navigating the healthcare system as a child of immigrants and is inspired by her own mother who became a nurse at the age of 35.

Caitryn Lim FNP
Caitryn Lim is a FNP resident at LifeLong’s West Berkeley Family Practice and recent University of California, San Francisco graduate with RN experience in Intensive Care, Pediatrics and Family Medicine. Her own family’s experiences navigating a broken healthcare system and the lack of Asian and Filipino healthcare providers in the field inspired her to close the gap in healthcare as a nurse practitioner and serve diverse, low-income and immigrant patients who hold stories like her own family.

Jacqueline Lagman is a FNP resident at Bay Area Community Health (BACH) and recent graduate of Rush University with RN experience in OB, Pediatrics and Adult Medicine. Her experiences working with communities of color in Chicago and abroad facing extreme violence inspires her commitment to closing the 18-year life expectancy gap that can exist from one zip code to the next.

Janelle Silvis is a AGNP at LifeLong’s East Oakland & Ashby Health Center and graduate of University of California, San Francisco with RN experience in Street Medicine, HIV Care, and a public health background in providing harm reduction services for individuals and communities impacted by the statewide housing crisis and incarceration. Her own frustrations with an unjust and racist health care system inspires her to further her impact in providing equitable care to underserved communities as a nurse practitioner.

Kathleen Shrader is a DNP resident at Bay Area Community Health (BACH) and graduate of University of San Francisco with RN experience in Family and Perinatal Medicine, and providing HIV care and alcohol and drug disorder support services to vulnerable patients experiencing homelessness. Her self-awareness as a white woman of the racial injustices in our health care system along with her life-changing experiences working on supportive clinic team for the Native American Health Center inspired her to continue her passion for serving as a nurse practitioner in community health settings.

Laura Colebourn is a FNP resident at LifeLong’s Brookside San Pablo and graduate from University of California San Francisco with recent RN experience providing direct treatment services for youth and adults at the Solano County Jail. Her own experiences growing up in poverty and accessing public health services through community clinics in East Sacramento and living in community with Spanish-speaking Latinx immigrant families inspire her to serve the community as a bilingual Spanish speaking provider.

Madeline Marroquin is a FNP resident at La Clinica and graduate of Samuel Merritt College with RN experience in Adult Medicine, Urgent Care, Medical Surgical and Trauma Units, Pediatrics and Women’s Health. Her own personal experiences serving as her own family’s medical interpreter and health navigator since childhood due to the severe lack of Spanish-speaking and Latinx healthcare providers that leads to worsening healthcare outcomes for immigrant Latinx communities inspired her to serve her community as a nurse practitioner.

Rachael Renton AGNP
Rachael Renton is a AGNP resident at LifeLong’s Ashby Health Center and East Oakland Health Center and a recent graduate of University of California, San Francisco. She has experience in the fields of community health nursing and sexual and reproductive health. She is particularly inspired to serve communities that are often left behind by our healthcare system, including the aging and elderly, those who are or have been incarcerated, and individuals affected by psychiatric disorders.

Rae Wiest is a FNP at LifeLong’s West Berkeley, Family Practice, and recent graduate of University of California, San Francisco with RN experience in Adult Medicine, ER and shelter health services. They are inspired by their own experiences navigating the healthcare system witnessing firsthand as a patient and as a full-time caregiver to a close family member, the lack of comprehensive and empathic care provided to unemployed and uninsured working-class and trans and non-binary communities and patients.

Sivan Sadeh is a FNP at La Clinica and recent graduate of University of California, San Francisco with RN experience in Oncology, Maternal and Child Health and years of public health experience providing direct patient advocacy, case management and service referrals in a wrap- around clinic care, street outreach and home services settings to day laborers in Hayward and undocumented, refugee and underinsured or uninsured, and houseless patients and families in East Oakland. Her experiences growing up in Los Angeles as a child of an immigrant and grandchild to Holocaust survivors and now as a mother of biracial, bicultural and bilingual children inspire her to serve Spanish-speaking Latinx immigrant communities as a bilingual healthcare provider.
