LifeLong Medical Care’s Board of Directors has confirmed that John Jenkins will continue serving as Chief Executive Officer following a comprehensive national search process.

The Board’s decision reflects its confidence in Jenkins’ leadership during a pivotal time for community health centers and the patients who rely on them. Under his leadership, LifeLong has advanced important stabilization efforts, strengthened organizational alignment, and focused on protecting access to care across the East Bay.

“As we considered the moment we are in and the responsibilities we carry for our patients, staff, and communities, we determined that John Jenkins is the right leader for this time,” said Board Chair Rachel Tobey. “Our priority is to ensure steadiness, clarity, and continued progress as we build a strong future for LifeLong.”

Jenkins will continue leading efforts to reinforce LifeLong’s financial sustainability, operational strength, and patient-centered model of care.

“I am honored to continue serving as CEO of LifeLong Medical Care,” said Jenkins. “Our patients depend on us deeply, and I remain committed to supporting our staff and providers while advancing community-rooted, patient-centered care across the East Bay.”

Jenkins has served as LifeLong Medical Care Interim CEO since August 2025, continuing his family’s long legacy in East Bay health care and his deep personal commitment to LifeLong’s mission. His father, Dr. William Jenkins, helped shape the health care in the communities that LifeLong serves, and Jenkins has carried that legacy forward as a longtime Board member and former Board Chair.

As LifeLong enters its 50th anniversary year, the organization remains focused on delivering high-quality care to the East Bay patients and communities it has served for over half a century, and ensuring long-term stability in an evolving healthcare landscape. On Saturday, April 4, LifeLong will mark this milestone with supporters and community partners, welcoming both longtime champions and new members into its circle of supporters as it looks ahead to the next 50 years of advancing equitable, community-centered care across the East Bay.
