While SNAP benefits to 42 million Americans are being debated at the federal level and in the courts, it’s important to note that people can turn to LifeLong, along with other local city and county organizations for food assistance.

Due to the federal government shutdown, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that supplies food stamps has been paused and partially reinstated several times in recent days. But there are multiple sites in the East Bay for those needing immediate help.

LifeLong offers food and veggie giveaways at the following locations and hours:

  • Over 60 Health Center, 3260 Sacramento St., Berkeley 94702, every 2nd and 4th Monday from 9 am-11 am.
  • East Oakland Health Center, 10700 MacArthur Blvd. Oakland, 94605, every Monday 9 am-noon.
  • William Jenkins Health Center, 150 Harbour Way, every Wednesday from 10 am-noon.
